Due to some production issues, Samsung couldn't produce the chips for Apple which turned to TSMC only as a temporary arrangement
Some reports from a few sources have indicated that TSMC has already started off its manufacturing process of the first batch of A8 processors which are exclusively designed for the Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6. As unfortunate as it may sound but it is the truth that we might not be hearing any new news from Apple at the moment; at least not before the third quarter of this year.

This leaves us to believe that the earliest we will be seeing in the iPhone 6 is this July and this latest latest flagship by Apple is going to sport a 4.7” display, making it a gigantic one for Apple. We previously heard about the rumors of the side bezels being gone completely to facilitate the larger screen size. Before this, Samsung had the contract to produce the chips for Apple but because there were some production issues, Apple had to move on to TSMC. But this arrangement is only on a temporary basis and after this we will see Apple and Samsung joined for this deal in a three year contract.
