Microsoft confirms the official name and more details will be coming up on the Microsoft BUILD conference on April 2

The update Windows Phone 8.1 had already been confirmed and all the leaks has confirned that it was soon going to come out. And thanks to all these numerous leaks, we have got our hands on some of the most prominent features of the update. For instance we know about a notification center with toggles which is coming with 8.1 along with a brand new voice assistant. But we are certianly not happy about the official confirmed name for the new Windows Phone version and it sounds rather boring to have it as Windows Phone 8.1.

Microsoft has already being paying attention to the compatibility section of the apps in the Windows Phone store and we can see the new Windows Phone 8.1 version on top of the previous Windows Phone 8 version. Fortunately, most of the Windows 8 apps are going to be compatible with the new updated version of the OS. However, the apps designed to work exclusively with the Windows 8.1 will only be working on this latest OS and not on the Windows 8 version. The upcoming Microsoft BUILD conference which is going to take place on April 2 will bring more details on the new Windows Phone 8.1 version and the developer's view of this new updated version will also be revealed during this event. We will still have to wait for the final version to come out a few weeks later than that.
