The company is working on a stylus which will feature extendable nib with multiple tips and a built in light sensor
AppleInsider has secured some patent pictures of the new stylus being developed by Apple. The company is currently working on this new stylus which is going to come with an extendable nib with multiple tips and a built in light sensor. This nib is quite flexible and is perfect for drawing extremely thin lines with its ability to work entirely from within the chassis. Multiple touch zones such as a paintbrush can also be delivered by the nib.
The exposed nib extended out of the stylus' body enables the tablet's GUI to produce different output color, opacity, etc. Moreover, the nib or the individual strands can be extended with the help of an actuator and this allows the tip to act as a paint brush. We are assuming the stylus will have some kind of a collar system inside because both the nib and the miltuple strands tip will extend out of a single hole. These strands will not be as simple as they sound; they will probably feature light-transmissive tips through which data could pass. The patent for this advanced stylus was issued in year 2012 and has finally been granted status today.
