Wil Wheaton answered a little girl’s question very wisely. He defended the egos of nerds everywhere by openly taking their side.

Wil Wheaton is a sophisticated and deep individual with a lot of brains and not just Arnold Schwarzenegger-like empty brawn. He was recently questioned by a cute little girl in front of an audience regarding what to do if you were labeled a nerd by your friends at school.

Wil found the question quite meaningful and appropriate since it addressed an urgent issue in today’s information age. He said that if somebody was acting rude, cruel and evil towards a studious and academic person, that offensive person was simply tilting at windmills.

Wil Wheaton's response to a Little Girl about being called a Nerd on Reddit: "That was my daughter. She and the girl that bullied her are cool with each other this year. They aren't in the same class, though. This year has been a good year, but she noticed another little girl in her class kept getting picked on by the other students. She became this girl's friend and stands up for her when the other kids are being mean. We've talked about this moment a lot. After this panel, she got her picture taken with Wil. He actually hugged her!"

The value judgment he made regarding the so-called nerd was just a reflection of his own lack of self-respect. The jock who jeered at nerds and geeks was probably an insecure individual who never got the attention he needed from his parents and teachers. So he was taking it out on sensitive and educated people whom he chose to call nerds.

Wil furthermore said that if a person was called a nerd for something over which he had no control than that was the way it was and it couldn’t be helped. That person who was called the “N” word was simply engaged in book reading and more serious and sensible pursuits which he or she really loved.

So he or she should continue in his or her personal quest regardless of the disparaging term. Wil Wheaton described his own days at school. He went into the details of how he was treated badly by people who called him a nerd. And it was just because he liked mathematics and science and wasn’t good at sports.

He also thought school was cool. The video of Wil and the little girl has gone viral. It has inspired the girl’s mother to say that her daughter learnt a valuable lesson from Wil and that she considers him a part of their family.
