Maria Sharapova wins the Madrid Open title on Sunday by defeating Simona Halep. She started out slowly but soon won the match.
The Russian tennis superstar, Maria Sharapova began in a rather stilted manner yet soon she had the upper hand at the Madrid match. She gained the upper hand against Simona Halep and then went on to win the series.

The ravishing Russian is a former #1 icon of the world. And as for Simona Halep, she was a new fixture on the scene yet she lost out to Sharapova in a 1-6-6-2-6-3 sequence.
Maria did admit that she had to dredge up all her resources and everything she had learnt up until then in order to make her opponent suffer a devastating loss.
The Romanian Halep was left in a lurch thanks to Sharapova’s backhand volleys and sharpshooting style of attack. While Sharapova had a deltoid injury, due to which she missed last season’s matches, she has returned with a vengeance that knows no limits.
Sharapova has stood up to Serena Williams in the past. She is currently at the seventh spot on a worldwide level. Maria doesn’t rest on her laurels. She has already seen failure as a part of the equation of success thanks to her injury.
She is willing to work hard for her role in the wonderful game of tennis. And she is slowly but steadily re-climbing her way back to the acme.
Sharapova is reputed to have said that whether the venue is a foreign planet or the capital of Spain, she just wants to do the best she is capable of. This match which just transpired had the vocal Sharapova making staccato shots while the slightly heavyset Halep was her usual strong self.
