Nikki Reed and the former "American Idol" contestant Paul McDonald, 29, had announced their split back in March. This is the first marriage for both Reed and McDonald. They have no kids.
While announcing the split, the couple revealed that they had been living separately since the previous six months. But the couple also said that they would remain on good terms at the time of their split.
Reed's rep told US Weekly in March, "After much consideration, Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald are ending their marriage. They will continue to share their love of music, and are still working on their debut album, I'm Not Falling, releasing in 2014."
"They remain best friends and look forward to their continued journey together," the statement continued.
Nikki Reed reportedly married Paul McDonald in October of 2011 in Malibu, California. But the interesting thing is that the divorce papers state that their marriage date is July 14, 2011.
Both met at the premiere of Little Red Riding Hood in March, 2011. And the couple was very happy at its wedding. Reed said at the time of her wedding with Paul, "We couldn't be happier! We're so glad this day has come!"
But this happiness remained for a short time period only. Just 3 years after the marriage, they divorced. However, the couple will still continue working together on an album.
Meanwhile, Nikki Reed was also spotted having a double date with Derek Hough, and his sister Julianne Hough and her boyfriend, Brooks Laich. There are rumors that Derek Hough is Nikki's current boyfriend. However, Reed has not yet commented on her new love affair.
