Cute Japanese pop group AKB48 cancels concerts amidst a weird violent attack that injured two members.

The very popular group AKB48 is part of the Japanese idol pop scene. The band has informed this week that they got attacked at a fan event by a man wielding a saw. Sounds like something straight out of an off beat horror movie. The attack left two of the members of AKB48 injured in addition to one staff member. All three suffered cuts to their hands.

Police arrested the saw man. He is an unemployed 24-year-old.

AKB48 holds the record for largest pop group. Founded in 2005 with 48 members, the group now has close to 150 members. The group has its own theater in Akihabara district in Tokyo.
