The former Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer is facing a no sale of the Clippers basketball team which belonged to Donald Sterling.

The latest scoop is that Steve Ballmer has gotten custody of the Clippers basketball team. But don’t go around announcing this piece of news since it is not 100% genuine and may need to be corroborated before it is accepted at face value.

Nothing ought to be taken in without prior assurance that it is the truth. About the facts that we do know with an iron guarantee: Shelly Sterling, the spouse of erstwhile Clippers owner, Donald Sterling, is in agreement over selling the team so that her husband can be left high and dry.

However, that does not mean that the deal has been sealed. The Clippers are in a state of protest and Donald too has yet to show his true colors. The last minute details still need to be cleared before the whole shebang goes through.

Ballmer is willing to shell out $2 billion which proves that the Clippers are an extraordinary team and literally worth their weight in gold. Ballmer himself has assets amounting to $20 billion.

Two other investors made a bid for the coveted team but they came up lower than Ballmer. Their bidding amounts were $1.6 billion and $1.2 billion.

The well-wishers of the Clippers have issues with Ballmer keeping the team members holed up in Los Angeles. He does not want to shift to Seattle. But we digress when we discuss such matters.

Of far greater concern are the immediate consequences which are dependant upon Donald Sterling’s further actions. His recent racially insensitive commentary is something that will obviously have far-reaching effects.

He is hemming and hawing. The whole issue is in a midway state. It is a case of damned if I do and damned if I don’t. Will Ballmer be the future owner of the Clippers? Wait around to find out.
