Electric Cars are becoming the “In” Thing

Electric cars such as the Tesla Model S are definitely becoming the “in” thing among lean, mean and green alternatives to gas guzzlers.

Electric cars are a much better option than the fossil-fuel dependent muscle cars since they are clean and closer to the cars of the future. They don’t leave behind a carbon footprint so they are just ideal for a sustainable future.

And Tesla Motors is at the forefront of an effort to replace gasoline-run monsters with the hybrid smart cars that will be populating the cities of tomorrow.

But there is a sticking point somewhere in the equation. That would happen to be the astronomical price tag attached to electric cars such as the Model S.

One of these critters costs about $70,000 which is indeed enough to put a dent in your wallet. The whole plan for Tesla Motors is to bring the price down to $35,000. And this will take effort, time and patience.

This brand new car will be called the Model 3 and it lies at least three years in the future. Thus it will make its debut in 2017. At half the rate of the current car, it will be a bargain worth its weight in gold indeed.

CNet's Brooke Crothers talked with John Voelcker, senior editor for High Gear Media, which publishes Green Car Reports, about Model 3. And Voelcker said that "a list price of $35,000 is a very nice place to be as compared to the current Model S, which is selling well for its category, but this is a category that starts at $70,000 and goes up to six figures.

So, if Tesla can in fact introduce the Model 3, as it's now called, at a base price of $35,000 with a 200-mile electric range, that will take them into a whole new order of magnitude of volume."

Could you ask for a cheaper car? It will be a lovely alternative to the Model S indeed. The advances in cutting-edge technology that will occur in the times to come will determine whether this car gets created or not.

And Tesla is using Lithium ion batteries in its Model 3 eclectic cars to cut down the cost. And Musk needs to build a factory first for the mass production of these Lithium ion batteries and then Model 3 cars. That is why, the car will be released in 2017.

All of America is obsessed with Tesla since it seems to be the wave of the future for sure. The very existence of Tesla speaks volumes about the power of change for the betterment of society.

Pollution will be a thing of the past with electric cars. Then there will be no more lung diseases and carcinogens in the air once the gas exhausts have gone the way of the dinosaurs. For now at least the Model S is all we have though.

In fact, the British government is ready to buy a whole shipment of these electric cars in its green campaign which is geared towards environmental responsibility and awareness.
