He has an ironic style of talking and his gestures exude a laid back classic cool attitude. Recently, good old Morgan ended up on NBC's The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.
In the beginning things got off to a normal start. Morgan Freeman corrected Jimmy on the name of the program that he was currently doing.
At this Jimmy apologized and then made up for the loss of face by quipping that it was the Jimmy Fallon Show they were in right now.
Then while Morgan looked askance at him for his crazy and kooky antics, he committed the ultimate act of frankness.
Jimmy actually took out two rubber balloons filled with helium and had the guts to ask Morgan to engage in a brief interview with him while high on helium.
We all know that swallowing helium and then uttering sentences makes the sentences sound like a mixture of voices from Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse and Alvin and the Chipmunks.
Morgan hesitated for a while and then decided to give it a go just for the heck of it. Jimmy began with small talk by saying that he was going to call him Captain Morgan and the exploded bongo drumbeat sound of his voice cracked up several people in the audience.
Morgan replied in a manner that made the laughter reach the ceiling. They each took turns sucking a little helium from their individual gas balloons and delivering staccato lines which were absolutely hilarious to the extreme.
Finally, Jimmy Fallon said that he hoped that Morgan Freeman would return to his show. And Morgan’s rejoinder was “not gonna happen”. At this the crowd just went wild.
Since helium is much lighter than air, when you inhale it and speak…the voice escapes at such an accelerated rate from the vocal cords that it sounds like a rodent’s squeaks.
All those present on the show had wonderfully entertaining time seeing the two engage in such mouse-like banter while hooked on helium.
