The bill passed through Senate is expected to be signed into law by President Obama’s administration.
So this is the day we had all been waiting for; the phone unlocking is being taken care of by the United States House of Representatives. A bill is going to be passed which will make the unlocking of cellphone absolutely normal. The decision made last year held that the unlocking of phones would stay to be legal however this bill has passed through the Senate and will most probably be signed into law by President Obama’s administration. The problem remains with US because Europe and other territories have already made unlocking phones legal. US has stayed behind in this regard and the process of unlocking a phone hasn’t still been made clear in terms of legality.

However, we are now counting on the “Unlocking Consumer Choice and Wireless Competition Act” which has passed through the Senate and will be signed into law. Much of our ambiguity relating to this will be cleared out soon. Though this bill is not going to grant all the power to the consumers, it ill make sure that certain claws are exempted from rules which previously made it illegal to unlock the phones. This Act is going to be an important milestone because if it does get passed then it will open new ways for discussing the extent to which privileges can be increased on electronic devices.
