The little girl Madeleine McCann whose disappearance was a mystery that has never been solved yet remains an enigma. Her story was explored in book form recently.

The individual was an impersonator who pretended to be a humanitarian worker. And he is suspected of kidnapping the sweet and innocent 3 year old Madeleine McCann about 7 years ago. It was this thug that fled the premises where Madeleine’s family was staying in Portugal.

To this day she has not been rehabilitated despite all the efforts made by the police to find her. Recently, a paperback titled “Looking for Madeleine” was penned by Anthony Summers and Robynn Swan.

The book goes deep into the details of the abduction. The man suspected of the wrongdoing kept a steady eye on Madeleine and he picked her up and ran off at the opportune moment. There have been several eyewitness accounts of this man who was behaving in a surreptitious and strange manner on that fateful day.

"He disappeared without interfering with the two girls,” Swan said. "Two separate witnesses apparently saw a man, whom both described as very ugly or with a spotty or pimply face, staring fixedly at apartment 5A. They both described him being in the same position in the street.”

Madeleine was fast asleep along with her siblings when she was whisked away by this wicked and cruel man. It was bad luck not to mention slight negligence that caused this tragic event to transpire.

"That's combined with the fact that on the very day Madeleine disappeared, a lady visiting the apartment upstairs saw from her balcony a man behaving very oddly in the lane between the apartments and the pool. The man was going out of an adjacent gate, closing the gate repeatedly to see if it was creaky. He seemed to be looking around and generally acting very peculiarly before leaving," Swan added.

Her mother and father were eating with friends when Madeleine was kidnapped by the nefarious man. And while they were checking up on her every half an hour or so, it proved to be the window of opportunity the child abductor needed to perform his disappearing act.

And the extremely sad thing is he took their darling and cute daughter with him. There was a rash of child abuse scandals around that time too which raised the parents’ fears that the worst may have occurred in connection with their daughter.

"Had there been a warning note in the apartment, do we think the McCanns would have left the patio door unlocked on the night they went to the other side of the pool to have dinner away from their children? One would be tempted to think they would make sure everything was firmly locked up," Summers said.

At present a sex pervert and a trio of burglars have been under suspicion. Whether these suspects lead to the real person who did the deed is a moot point.

The law has a way of suspecting everyone and then one of them turns out to be the perpetrator of the crime. It is hoped that Madeleine will be found one day and return home to her loving parents’ arms.
