MTV announced the 2014 MTV European Music Awards nominations. The list is dominated by US artists.

MTV just published the nominations for the 2014 MTV European Music Awards scheduled to take place on November 9 in Glasgow, Scotland. MTV could drop "Europe" out of the title of this award show. The nominations are dominated by US artists. Katy Perry has the most nominations with 7 nominations followed by Ariana Grande with 6 and Pharell with 5.

Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer is with 5 nominations the highest non-US nominee. UK's Sam Smith has with 4 nominations the most any European performer got.

You can vote for all nominees until Saturday, November 8, 2014, and the show will kick off on MTV channels around the world Sunday, November 9, beginning at 7 p.m. ET.

If Scotland votes for independence this week, then the MTV EMA Awards will be one of the first big events in the new Scotland.
