Debbie Harry, best known as the lead singer of the new wave and punk rock band, was the guest of honor at an event held at the Chelsea Hotel Storefront in New York .

Her acting career spans over thirty film roles and numerous television appearances. Blondie (1974-2014), an American rock band, founded by singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein, has sold 40 million records worldwide and is still active today. Blondie has won 4 awards and been nominated for 3.

The pioneering punk rock band Blondie celebrated forty years on the music scene, Monday night, with an exhibition of photos taken of the band over the last four decades.

Forty-one years after Blondie hit the music scene, front woman Debbie Harry is looking back, but not through her music. Instead, band co-founder, Chris Stein is offering an insider's view with a show of photographs that he began shooting before Blondie was formed.

At a private opening on Monday, the 69-year-old Harry, her lips painted into a perfect red bow of a mouth, with blond hair and downtown-cool black clothes, posed for cameras with Stein. The pics reflected a life spent in music.

Stein hopes younger people will take away "a little sense of history" from the exhibition at New York's iconic Chelsea Hotel, which over the years has been a temporary home to music legends. The exhibit runs till September 29th, 2014.

The exhibit launches in conjunction with the September 23rd release of Stein's photography book Chris Stein/Negative: Me, Blondie and the Advent of Punk.

It features never before seen shots of early live performances and private moments on tour. "A Blondie Exhibition" runs till September 29th at the Chelsea Hotel Storefront Gallery which is free and open to the public, from 1-8 p.m.
