George Clooney is to be married to Amal Alamuddin in the beautiful city of Venice. Guests are arriving and the vows will be taken on Monday.

George Clooney, who has been living on and off in Venice for the past fifteen years once called it his home on the Oprah Winfrey Show. It is befitting that he chose Venice to say his vows to the beautiful Lebanese human rights lawyer, Amal Alamuddin. After 1993, this would be the second time that the 63 year old heartthrob would marry again so who could really blame him for trying to make it special, especially for a girl like Amal.

One thing is for sure. Everything is extensive and expensive. The Grand Canal has been reserved for the bride and groom. Belmond Capriani - a five star plush island hideaway has been booked and is eagerly waited upon by Clooney enthusiasts. Its 44 rooms and 41 suites are entirely booked by the star studded guest list. The guest list on board the hideaway island comprises: the Jolie-Pitts, U2’s Bono, Sandra Bullock, Matt Damon and Cindy Crawford with her husband Rande Gerber, who is expected to act as Clooney’s best man. Cate Blanchett, who worked alongside Clooney in The Monument Men is still an unconfirmed guest. It is still speculated though that she also flew in to attend the wedding.

The event is sure to be a star studded occasion. The couple is expected to be married in a civil ceremony on Monday conducted by the former Mayor of Rome, Walter Veltroni, an Italian writer, journalist and a friend of George Clooney. The bets are being made on where the couples would spend the night. The Capriani expects the couple to stay in one of their suites – possibly the exclusive Palladio Suite (£6,365 per night), with its private garden, hot tub and boat jetty, which would make a fine bridal nook. People are putting their money on Aman Canal Grande. They might stay at the Alcova Tiepolo suite, possibly to throw off the paparazzi.

What is more interesting, as always, is what the bride and groom are wearing? Giorgio Armani has taken the entire credit for what Clooney would be wearing but Amal is following in the Duchess of Cambridge’s footsteps and keeping her dress a secret. She has been spotted around Italy and England with shopping bags and has kept her lips sealed. The persistent paparazzi have spotted her coming out of HQ Alexander McQueen and we can only guess whether we will get to see her in a Kate Middleton-like dress.

The post party predictions on 29th September have the press excited to keep their eyes peeled for the glimpse of the greatest party in Venice.
