The survival horror game is set to release in October in North America.

Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami's upcoming console and PC horror game, The Evil Within, has gone gold ahead of its release in October.

The Bethesda Softworks game has sold enough copies across console and PC platforms to send it to the gold status, launching across five platforms (Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PC).

"'The Evil Within' embodies the meaning of pure survival horror. Highly-crafted environments, horrifying anxiety, and an intricate story are combined to create an immersive world that will bring you to the height of tension. With limited resources at your disposal, you’ll fight for survival and experience profound fear in this perfect blend of horror and action. "

The Evil Within was developed by Mikami and his team at Tango Gameworks, a wholly owned Bethesda subsidiary based in Japan. It launches October 14 in North America and Europe, October 16 in New Zealand and Australia, and on October 23 in Japan.

The survival horror game has experienced numerous release date changes throughout the year. The game was originally slated to release in August 2014 but was delayed to October 2014 in all regions.
