The singer has been living in NYC lately.

Taylor Swift has been spotted carrying her pet cat, Olivia Benson around New York over the last few weeks, leaving fans to wondering why she's bringing her pet everywhere with her lately. According to Swift she's not going out of her way to pose with the cat, but that Olivia just doesn't like to be put down while Swift is out doing her shopping.

"The kitten freaks out about being put in the cat carrier ... she freaks out when she's in there," the Love Story singer told Access Hollywood. "So I was just like, 'OK, all right, we're gonna just do this!'" Although it may look like Taylor walks for the miles with the kitten draped over her arm, she also said that she's often just walking from her door to the car. "It was like a ten foot walk from my door to the car!" she explained. "What I thought was funny about those pictures is that, like, the cat is looking straight at the cameras!"

Swift is currently living in New York City, and said that she has cameras follow her around all over the place as soon as she leaves her home. This has left her to consider making sure she always looks good for the cameras before she takes off out of her apartment.

"It's been really exciting living in New York and being inspired by the fashion happening there," she said. "And, y'know, I think you're a little more cognizant of what you're wearing when you do have a camera crew of, like, 20 people outside your door every day!"

Taylor's latest single Shake It Off has taken the album to number one in the charts, and her fifth studio album 1989 will follow and no doubt be just as successful, being released on October 27.
