ABC's newcomer David Muir has beaten NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams for the first time in 5 years.

The Evening News TV category has a new champion. Brian Williams has dominated evening news for over 5 years for NBC. Now for the first time in over 5 years, ABC is on top again with David Muir.

World News Tonight with David Muir had 8.42 million total viewers, compared with an average of 8.25 million for NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams for the week of September 29.

David Muir took over from Diane Sawyer in early September. This is quite an achievement to beat beloved Brian Williams with just one month on the job.

As you might remember David Muir had the first interview with Tim Cook right after the iPhone 6 keynote. In September ABC’s Evening Newscast had reports from David Muir on Child Refugees Along Syrian Border, Martha Raddatz on a War Ship During Strikes Over Syria and Richard Besser in Liberia Covering Ebola Outbreak.

40-year-old David Muir is very easy on the eyes. This alone might just draw a ton of females viewers away from graying Williams, but can Muir bust out Rappers Delight like Brian Williams?
