Cung Lee Says He Did Not Take HGH or PEDs, Doubts Test Outcome

The former Strikeforce middleweight champion, Cung Lee, has come out strongly to defend himself against allegations that he indulged in stimulants before his match with Michael Bisping. UFC sent the former champion packing for one year after tests that were carried out after the match revealed that he had indulged in either HGH (Human Growth Hormone) or PEDs.

According to HNGN, Cung said that he did not expect such a thing to happen to him. The star said he has no confidence in the criterion that was used to conclude his tests. The fighter argued that he was not guilty of any offense because he had confirmed with UFC officials that his tests were negative for stimulants including masking agents and anabolics among several others. However, Cung agreed that the tests had identified high levels of HGH.

Age seems to be catching up with the 42 year old fighter. Prior to the match, the star seemed to be well prepared for victory. Contrary to his expectations, Michael was too much for him because he was beaten senselessly. By the fourth round, Cung was taken down through a total knock out.

The striker had not stepped inside a ring for the last 21 months. Perhaps that is why he was beaten by Michael. Despite his long absence from the fights, the age factor played a big factor in determining whether he could match the strength of a seasoned Michael. Though the fighter can still make a comeback after the one year suspension, his chances of recapturing his victory are quite narrow.

The fallen champion has lately become a subject of public ridicule due to an interview he had prior to his clash with Michael. Critics have been joking about a photo of him that was taken earlier. The critics argue that the striker seems to be in good shape due to enhancements that had been made to the photo.

When Michael was asked whether he had something to say about Cung's suspension, he argued that there was no way he was going to add more pain to an injury. UFC management had issued Cung with a nine month break only for the decision to be revoked later after the officials realized that they had filed the report erroneously.
