The hacker(s) behind the so called snappening said to leak the 200,000 Snapchat photos today, Sunday, Oct. 12.

After weeks of celebrity photo leaks refered to the Fappening, this weekend is supposed to be the big Snappening. As reported the Snapchat service got compromised via a 3rd party app. SnapChat has stated that the servers have not been preached. The copied photos are all from users that used a hacked thirdparty app.

Kenny Withers broke the Snappening story first and has updated his post yesterday saying that there is now a Snappening file containing 13GB full of photos and videos on Torrent download. Commenters on 4Chan say that apparently have downloaded the file that there are 5 to 10% nude photos.

The involved hackers are supposed to release a searchable website today containing the stolen Snapchat photos. Since a lot of photos might be from underage users (50% of Snapchat users are 13-17 years old), the hackers are hopefully aware of this and not publish compromising photos of kids. If they do it also would raise the level of criminal charges.

Kenny Withers trashes the hope of those wanting to see nude photos in the Snappening to be revealed today. He says: "because 90% to 95% of the images will not be nudes, and that is what they are most interested in. The images that are nudes will most likely be removed if they can’t verify the age of the person in the picture."

Nothing to see. Move on. Do something useful.
