Apple is expected to present the final OS X Yosemite update at the iPad event coming this week.

Apple is holding a media event on October 16 titled "It has been too long." It is expected that Apple will unveil the new iPads, new Retina iMac and a maybe a new Mac mini. Apple is though also expected to present OS X Yosemite and reveal the release date. Apple has already presented OS X Yosemite earlier this year.

OS X Yosemite is redesigned and refined with a fresh, modern look, new apps and new continuity features that make working across your Mac and iOS devices more fluid than ever.

The new Today view in Notification Center gives you a quick look at everything you need to know, all in one place; iCloud Drive is located within the Finder and can store files of any type; and Safari has a new streamlined design that puts the most important controls at your fingertips.

Mail makes editing and sending attachments easier than ever; Handoff lets you start an activity on one device and pass it to the other; and Instant Hotspot makes using your iPhone’s hotspot as easy as connecting to a Wi-Fi network. Yosemite even gives you the ability to make iPhone calls on your Mac.

Developers have already received several releases of OS X Yosemite since the June announcement. When OS X Yosemite will be available for download is not clear yet. Given the iOS 8 update snafu, Apple should be really careful to not release another software update with a major bug.

There are though signs that the OS X Yosemite update is not far out. The iTunes Store design has been updated for iTunes 12 users according to 9to5Mac.
