Neil Patrick Harris and his hubby David Burtka are to appear together on the Freak Show.

Neil Patrick Harris and his gay partner’s appearance on the American Horror Story: Freak Show is going to be somewhat akin to a kinship deal. Harris and his husband are going to be guest stars on the show. Harris will be in two episodes as a snake oil salesman.

Burtka will play a sex-loaded part in the 13th episode alongside Jessica Lange. Ryan Murphy spoke of how Neil had a certain idea in his mind of how the skit would turn out to be in the end and so did he. The melding of both ideas would dictate how the script turned out in the end.

Neil and Murphy have acted in synch before on a project or two. And the meeting of minds was a success. The AHS: Freak Show is something at the end of which both Neil and his male partner Burtka will appear in cameo appearances.

Earlier this month, Ryan Murphy told TVLine of Harris’ forthcoming Freak Show stint, “He had very specific ideas for what he wanted to do, and I had very specific ideas, so we’re working on melding those.”

As for Lily Rabe, she is to do the character of Sister Mary Eunice. Rabe is not the only actress to reprise her role. Naomi Grossman will be back too as Pepper. Harris meanwhile will be the host at the Oscars this time around.

According to Harris, he wrote to Ryan regarding how he wanted to be a part of the series. And he said this to him even though he was not available to star in the series. Such was the paradoxical nature of the situation.

Neil expressed his love of the series and furthermore said that the freaky disturbing aspects of the show were precisely the factors that would make it hard to be digestible by the audience.

"I wrote a letter to Ryan asking if I can be in it, even though I wasn't even available to be in it…I just love those series and Coven was fantastic…to do one that involves any kind of freak, circus nonsense is going to be so unsettling to watch," Harris said in July (via E! News). "Can't wait!"

Ryan Murphy on the other hand responded to Neil’s overtures in a friendly and receptive manner. He told him and David Burtka that they were both welcome on board the enterprise. Anytime they wanted to, they could arrive and participate in the sow biz that was going on in the studios. According to Murphy, he had a warm conversation with Neil about seven days ago.

Neil just got married recently and he was still in the honeymoon phase. Murphy spoke of how Neil was ready to rumble as far as appearing in the series was concerned. He was a very able star and having his hubby along with him on the series would be a case of the more the merrier.

"I spoke to Neil a week ago," Murphy said. "He was fresh off his wedding. Obviously we have worked together before, I'm working on something and hopefully we will talk net week. He's game. He had very specific ideas of what he wanted to do, and I had very specific ideas, so we're melding them. He's awesome, one of our great entertainers, and I would love to see him and Jessica Lange go at it in some intriguing way. Because of his schedule, something we're thinking about, maybe one episode and then another one later on."
