The writer and actress, Lena Dunham, recently addressed allegations against her of child sexual abuse. She vehemently denied any wrongdoing on her part in the past.

There has been a storm in a teacup brewing recently over Lena Dunham’s controversial passage in her latest book. There are certain excerpts that show she had some intimate relations with her younger sister. The title of the book “Not that Kind of Girl” shows half of the details right on the cover in bold print.

The author recently addressed the smear campaign that had started against her by saying that firstly she does not like to give even zero level tolerance to child abuse or any kind of sexual abuse for that matter.

She said that she was very saddened and depressed at how parts of her book had been taken out of context and mangled and distorted to fit the nefarious plans of the campaigners against her.

She furthermore said that childhood abuse was a topic over which no one ought to be silent. It was bad per se. She had been a very vociferous fighter for the rights of the survivors of this sort of awful treatment.

Lena however did apologize over the fact that some of the scenes in her book were very explicit and painful for so many with a sensitive temperament. She especially took back the phrase “sexual predator” and said she was sorry if it offended so many sensibilities.

Lena admitted that it was not her purpose to make others uncomfortable. She however made one thing quite clear. Her sister had approved of everything that had been published by Lena.

28-year-old Lena Dunham's statement to Time magazine reads:

"I am dismayed over the recent interpretation of events described in my book Not That Kind of Girl. First and foremost, I want to be very clear that I do not condone any kind of abuse under any circumstances.

"Childhood sexual abuse is a life-shattering event for so many, and I have been vocal about the rights of survivors. If the situations described in my book have been painful or triggering for people to read, I am sorry, as that was never my intention. I am also aware that the comic use of the term “sexual predator” was insensitive, and I’m sorry for that as well.

"As for my sibling, Grace, she is my best friend, and anything I have written about her has been published with her approval."

The whole uproar had been over certain passages where Lena reveals that she had gotten a little too frank with her younger sister, Grace. Dunham also vocally condemned the right wing for printing things about her that were simply not true. She said that what they had made out to be her real character was simply disgusting and gross.

She even wrote an email to the website titled Truth Revolt which published a defamatory article about her. Lena told them in clear cut words that if they did not desist from publishing offnsive and slanderous material about her she would sue them in court.

But the site administrators and moderators have refused to bow down to her demands. They say that the First Amendment gives them the right to freedom of expression. And they also pointed out the fact that she was the one who had written that tell-all book of hers so she would now have to face the criticism.
