Dwight Howard to Face Fresh Charges of Child Assault

Rockets center Dwight Howard may have released a sigh of relief earlier when Florida Department of Children and Families demanded for his case to be ended because they had not found him guilty due to insufficient evidence.

His relief has however come to a dead end because NY Daily has learned that authorities in Cobb County, Ga, are already carrying out investigations to find if the star has a case to answer in a scenario that got his son bruised after an alleged assault.

The star is alleged to have used a belt buckle to correct his six year old son, which caused him to suffer serious bruises. The accusations were first covered by TMZ.

In an interview with The Orlando Sentinel, his lawyer issued a statement in defense of the star and argued that his wife was using their child to hit back at him.

“It is troubling to see a mother use her son as a pawn against his father, which is what is happening in this case,” the statement reads.

“Dwight Howard will continue to act in the best interest of his children and do whatever is necessary to protect their welfare and best interests.”

NBA has refused to issue any statement regarding the matter. The allegations coincide with those of Adrian Peterson that has since resulted in him being sent away for the remainder of the season without a single cent to show for his participation in NFL.

The former Vikings running back is expected back in the field around April 2015 because he would have gone through thorough counseling. However, NFL has maintained that they can not allow Peterson to play in the forthcoming season if he does not prove that he is committed to changing his attitude.

Though NFL argued they were acting in good faith, their decision has been criticized by NFL Players Association and so they are rallying behind Peterson to appeal against the ruling.

Simply put, they want him to keep getting his payment despite the suspension.

Peterson defended himself by arguing that he did not to injure his son because he was simply correcting him just like his own parents did to him whenever he did something weird.

Court documents indicated that the young boy got bruised on his thigh and testicles.
