  • Payment with a single tap
  • Signature for transactions exceeding certain amount

Eddy Cue – Apple’s SVP of Internet Software and Services – shows off the service in action as he goes on a shopping spree followed by some cameras

The Apple Pay surely doesn’t need any more publicizing and Apple has been doing a fine job with it already. However with the holiday season upon us, the importance of Apple Pay couldn’t be emphasized more upon and that’s exactly what Eddy Cue, Apple’s SVP of Internet Software and Services, took off to show the world. As he went for a shopping spree, he was of course followed by a few cameras who managed to capture the most interesting highlight of his shopping day.

Apple Pay has been facing some issues since it was launched as some retailers refused to accept it as a payment system. Some customers even had to go through such troubles as being charged double at some instances but thankfully this was experienced by only a handful of customers and we understand the complexity involved considering the sensitive nature of the transactions.

Apple has by now partnered some major retailers in the US and with the holiday season just around the corner, it was the perfect opportunity for Eddy Cue to set out to prove what Apple Pay’s worth. The Apple executive was seen on a local Los Angeles news channel as he met with a news reporter and went about shopping in Santa Monica using nothing but Apple Pay and supporting apps. He pre-ordered a meal for two from Panera using the restaurant chain’s own app and then went to a store to pick up an order which had been prepared already. His orders were picked up after a simple tap on the iPhone 6.

Next on Cue’s checklist were sunglasses and since the entire transaction had exceeded a certain amount, Cue’s signatures were required too. This was to ensure that there was no room left for any event of fraud.
