LG will be showcasing a new line of TVs called the Art Slim series at the CES 2015.

LG Electronics will be showcasing many of its new products at the CES 2015 next week in Las Vegas. Among these products is going to be LG’s new Art Slim series. It is being said that these new LCD screens by LG will be as thin as smartphones. The new models are going to be 55 inch and 65 inch Art Slim TVs which will have thickness of 7.5mm and 8.2mm.

According to LG, the average thickness of a 55 inch LCD TV is around 30mm which means that the Art Slim TVs are going to be 75 percent thinner. LG has compared the slimness of the new Art Slims to smartphones and why not when the new iPhone 6 is 6.9 mm thick.

The new Art Slim TVs are also light weighted with the 55 inch weighing 10.4kg and the 65 inch weighing 16.2 kg. This means that these new TVs are 25 percent lighter than the regular ones.

LG explained how it has reduced the form factor through the innovations in the mechanical structure that involves converting the back cover of the LCD module into the rear cover of the TV set.

LG has also come up with a new method in attaching the rear cover to the panel based on conventional narrow bezel technology. Further LG Display has also selected the use of aluminum composite materials for its back cover for the LCD module.

These new LCD screens by LG will be first shipped to the large Chinese market in 2015 with a complete range from 45 inch to 65 inch screens. It seems LG will be gearing up for a showdown with Samsung in the TV line as Samsung will be introducing 4k TVs at the CES 2015. However it seems that LG has a chance with these new Art Slims to pull the crowd towards its innovation at the CES 2015.
