Company to invest $2 billion for construction

After the heels of the news that Apple was able to have the best earnings quarter in history of business, the company announced on Monday that they will be investing $2 billion in order to build a Global Command Center that would be located in the state of Arizona. A press release was given by current Arizona Governor Doug Ducey and the governor stated that the command center would employ about 150 people full time and could bring as many as 500 construction jobs while the facility is being built.

The press release also stated that Apple would be building a green energy facility which means that the new center would be run on renewable energies and solar power. Apple has also released a statement regarding the new Global Command Center and they say that the center will be one of the biggest projects and investments that the company has ever undertaken. They say that they believe that the project could bring more than 600 engineering and construction jobs to Arizona.

The Global Command Center project has been in the works since 2013. Apple had bought a 1.3 million square foot facility that year and had a deal with GT Advanced Technologies of New Hampshire to use their technologies to make sapphire glass to use for Apple products up until just four months ago. GT Advanced Technologies has since declared bankruptcy thus bringing an end to that project. The company actually accused Apple of using ‘bait and switch’ practices but sources say that the failure of the New Hampshire company was internal.

The news of the new command center should not come as any surprise as Apple has been officially crowned as the richest cash company in the world. Apple also has the Apple Watch coming in 2015 which analysts believe could be the next big thing from the company that could rival the iPhone, iPad, and iPod.
