The Eye Tribe brings Eye Tracking to Smartwatches

The Eye Tribe demonstrated a smartwatch with eye tracking interface at the MWC 2015.

The Eye Tribe shows at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona its new eye tracking software solution for smartphones and new Eye Tracking SDK for Android. The company also demonstrated a smartwatch with eye tracking interface. As you can see in the photo the prototype is still very improvised. The Eye Tribe technology works already great on smartphones as you can see in the video below. It makes playing fruit ninja actually too easy.

The Eye Tribe technology though only will take off if it gets integrated inside mobile devices. Having to attach a sensor is only really feasible for PCs. Navigating by gazing and touching makes sense. Apple, Samsung who is first?

The Eye Tribe technology specifically to work with existing and next generation components, thereby significantly reducing time and money for manufacturer’s to bring sensational new products to market. The Eye Tribe SDK, which is now compatible with Android in addition to Windows and Mac OS/X enables developers to design programs that allow users to control their devices just by looking at them – including scrolling, navigating and selecting on their Smartphones and tablets with their natural eye movement.

The Eye Tribe was named by leading industry analyst Gartner as a “Vendor to Watch” in its newly released market report titled “Market Trends: Integrated Eye Tracking Will Disrupt UI/UX Paradigms in Consumer Devices” by Werner Goertz.
