Warner Bros. TV Facebook

Melissa is really happy to play Supergirl and she tweeted that she couldn’t believe that she was wearing the House of El coat of arms.

Warner Bros. TV posted on Facebook the costume that Melissa will be wearing.

Supergirl will get her own show and the pilot will be shot for CBS. The costume was designed by three time Oscar winner Colleen Atwood.

Melissa Benoist also tweeted her first look as Supergirl and she also stated that she still can't believe that she is wearing the House of El coat of arms.

DC Comics also posted the news on their website that the first image has been released from Supergirl. The show will cast Mehcad Brooks, Calista Flockhart, Chyler Leigh, David Harewood, Faran Tahir, Dean Cain and Helen Slater.

The designer of Supergirl’s costume won awards for her work in Alice in Wonderland, Memoirs of Geisha and Chicago. She was also nominated eight times for her work in Into the Woods, Snow White and the Huntsman, Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Sleepy Hollow.

Coleen Atwood said that she wanted to capture the costume so that it could embrace the past and so that she could thrust her into the street-style action hero of today. The pilot of the show is for executive producers/writers Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and Kreisberg. The show will be produced by Berlanti Productions in an association with Warner Bros. Television.
