Apple has come up with its lightest and thinnest Retina Macbook

n attempts to keep all its developments a secret from the outside world, we must say that we are surprised by the recent Apple announcements at the Spring Forward event. A few predictions had hinted towards the Macbook line being updated but of course we weren’t expecting exactly what Apple had in store for us and this newest MacBook sure is a pleasant surprise. Weighing no more than just two pounds, it is the lightest Mac coming out from the doors of the Cupertino giant – only 13.1 millimeters thin at its thickest point and 24% thinner than its predecessor.

The new Macbook’s all-metal enclosure comes with integrated antennas and a keyboard is a full size platform which runs from edge to edge and features the company’s own "butterfly mechanism" for the keys. The 12-inch Retina display is definitely the highlight of the Macbook boasting well above 3.3 million pixels and being merely 3.3 millimeters thin; the thinnest for any Macbook up until now. This much thinner chassis also called for a redesigned trackpad which has now been given the title of "Force Touch trackpad” and comes with a glass multi-touch surface with four force sensors.

In addition to this it also features the Taptic Engine introduced with the Apple Watch for haptic feedback. The introduction of this new software will allow adjustments to the click sensation and users will be able to click anywhere. Users can also enable the new "Force Click" gesture which comes from force sensors when they sense a range of pressure from light clicks to deeper presses. This helps to pull up information such as calendar entries, maps, or definitions effortlessly. The Macbook has been designed based on a unibody architecture and it is the first ever fanless Macbook ever made and doesn’t make any noise. According to Apple's marketing chief, Phil Schiller, the logic board is 67 percent smaller as compared to the one on the previous Macbook Air making more room for the battery.Yet again Apple has claimed the all day battery life which is industry leading. As far as the features are concerned, we must say that the new 12” Macbook is here to impress with its internals.

It sports an Intel Core M "Broadwell" processor which can run at up to 1.3-gigahertz and consumes just about 5W of power. Other features include a 802.11 ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity and a day’s worth of battery thanks to the new sheet-style batteries. It starts at $1299 for the base model with 256GB SSD coupled with 8GB of RAM while the bumped up 1.2GHz model with 512 GB SSD and 8GB RAM is priced at $1599 and will be available starting April.
