BBC just announced that they will not renew Jeremy Clarkson's contract.

In a long awaited decision the BBC just announced that the TV network will not renew Jeremy Clarkson's contract. BBC director general Tony Hall said: "For me a line has been crossed. There cannot be one rule for one and one rule for another dictated by either rank, or public relations and commercial considerations."

As reported the current season of Top Gear has been taken off air after allegations that Jeremy Clarkson abused a production staffer verbally and physically.

The BBC conducted an investigation into the allegations and the report says that Clarkson physically attacked Oisin Tymon on set in Surrey on March 4. The BBC found Clarkson guilty of "physical altercation accompanied by sustained and prolonged verbal abuse of an extreme nature."

Sir Hall said "t is with great regret that I have told Jeremy Clarkson today that the BBC will not be renewing his contract. It is not a decision I have taken lightly. I know how popular the program is and I also know that this decision will divide opinion."

He also said that the BBC needs to look to renew Top Gear for 2016. There is a future for Top Gear without Clarkson. The BBC is also supposed to find a way to air the remaining Top Gear episodes of the current season.

Top Gear launched in 2002 with hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. The extremely successful motor show has spawn national version that launched in 2010.

Fans already stating their disappointed about firing Clarkson on Twitter.
