A new version of the iPad mini is over due. Apple introduce the iPad mini 3 in 2013.

That Apple is updating the iPad mini in 2015 is a pretty save bet. The iPad mini 3 hails from 2013. French site NowWhereElse obtained now images and a video of what is supposed the back shell of the iPad mini 4.

The design seems to have not changed dramatically. The 1-minute video of the iPad mini 4 shell does not reveal any dimensions. We expect that Apple is making the iPad mini 4 thinner than its predecessor.

The tablet market is slowing down and the iPad mini is the least interesting Apple iPad because of the new large iPhone 6 Plus. The need for a mid-sized screen is limited. Apple can only surprise with a low price for the iPad mini 4 to compete with the myriads of low-end Android tablets.

The iPad mini 3 starts at $399, which is pretty steep. Apple also still sells the original iPad mini with a $249 starting price-tag and also the iPad mini 2 starting at $299. The introduction of the iPad mini 4 is expected to get rid of at least one iPad mini currently offered.
