Periscope sent notice by HBO to take down the fifth season premier of the Games of Throne from their video sharing app on Twitter!

Periscope is a live streaming app by Twitter where some users were caught broadcasting the premier of the fifth season of the Game of Thrones before time on the eve of Sunday.

Periscope is an app used by Twitter users to share videos from their phones with their followers with the help of a few buttons. HBO the network which produces the series Game of Thrones took counter measures and sent Periscope a notice to take down the streams.

In a statement the network HBO released they are aware of the actions of the app Periscope and have taken disciplinary action. According to HBO app developers should have tools which can prevent incidences of mass copyright infringements through their apps and the security checks should not only be dependent upon the notifications.

"We are aware of Periscope and have sent takedown notices," an HBO spokeswoman said in a statement to THR. "In general, we feel developers should have tools which proactively prevent mass copyright infringement from occurring on their apps and not be solely reliant upon notifications."

The current term of service of periscope outlines it does not back up copyright infringement and only depends upon reports to alert them of the infringement.

Periscope also commented on the issue and said they respect the intellectual property right of other entities they expect the Periscope users to extend the same respect.

Periscope has a special team dedicated to content review which can remove illegal content and shut down the account of any person responsible for copyright infringement and violating the terms of service of Periscope.

On Sunday night it was reported by the Australian website Mumbrella that Periscope users have been broadcasting the premiere of the fifth season of the series Game of Thrones to their followers and friends. Game of Thrones is one of the most watched series in the world and has been the victim of piracy for a long time.
