Touching tribute given to late Selena Quintanilla by Jennifer Lopez at 2015 Billboard Latin Music Awards!

Jennifer Lopez paid an emotional tribute to the Late Latin singer Selena Quintanilla at the Billboard Latin Music Awards. On Thursday night the tribute performance was a surprise for the fans as Lopez took the stage to perform Selena’s songs.

Lopez was accompanied in the tribute on stage by the Tejano singer’s former band Los Dinos. The band Los Dinos was formed by Selena’s own brother and sisters and it seemed fitting they join Lopez on stage for the tribute of Selena Quintanilla. Selena was murdered in 1995 in Texas by a former employee and associate and while Lopez gave the tribute Selena’s pictures flashed in the background.

Lopez ended her performance with the words we love you Selena, to which the crowd gave her a standing ovation. Lopez herself appeared to be extremely emotional as she hugged the Selena’s brothers and sisters.

45-year-old Jennifer Lopez got her first break into the industry when she played the role of Selena Quintanilla in the 1997 television movie ‘Selena’. In the movie Lopez performed several of Selena’s hits including ‘I Could Fall in Love’, ‘Como La Flor’ and ‘No Me Queda Mas’.

After the performance Selena Quintanilla’s Sister Suzette Quintanilla was heard commenting the best thing for her right now was sharing the stage with her family, former band mates and Lopez, who honoured Selena in such a way. Suzette even commented on Lopez’s choice of dressing citing she loved it as the garments are symbolic of her late sister’s style.

The American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez had even previously spoken about Selena in an interview with praise. According to Lopez people like Selena Quintanilla don’t come around every day and there will never be another Selena like the legendary Latin singer.
