The HydrogenOS will be announced officially on May 28th

China always seems to be getting a different treatment from the rest of the world. The OnePlus One was no exception. The phone was announced with the Cyanogen OS ROM but it wasn’t meant that way for the Chinese market. This was entirely for the international markets and the one in China shipped with OPPO’s ColorOS. The Cyanogen OS was later shifted to OxygeOS after OnePlus got into trouble with Cyanogen Inc. Following the ritual, the Chinese market is once again going to get a different OS.

The new HydrogenOS is now going to be announced on May 18th in Beijing and is going to be pretty much like its international counterpart, OxygenOS, in terms of being a lightweight system which will focus predominantly on performance and enhance battery life.

The HydrogenOS has been differentiated from vanilla Android, thanks to a few tweaks here and there and it will be based on the latest 5.0 Lollipop. Not enough information has been present on the new OS but according to OnePlus CEO this is not going to be just another iOS lookalike.
