$9 CHIP Computer will Pass $1 Million on Kickstarter Today

Chip the $9 computer will make its modest $50,000 funding goal look miniscule today. The project is set to pass $1 million in a couple of hours.

As reported yesterday, the CHIP computer will only cost you $9 and it is a single-board computer which is able to run Linux.

Chip is powerful enough to play classic 3D shooter Quake on it. On board of this computer you are going to find 512 RAM, 1GHz processor and 4GB of storage.

The users can also install a light version of Debian and they can also plug CHIP into something called PocketCHIP. The PocketCHIP will add a touchscreen and a keyboard to the mix and it will become of the size of a Game Boy.

Next Thing Co. launched a Kickstarter crowd-funding project with the modest goal of $50,000. The project raised already over $930,000 and is going to pass the $1 million mark within the next hours on Kickstarter. Supporters of the Chip computer will need patience. The company plans to ship the CHIP starting in January of 2016. The price of under $10 opens up endless new opportunities and the Rasperry Pi makers need to think about a strategy to counter the CHIP.

This is a must have computer because firstly it just costs you $9. If you want to add a VGA adapter then it will cost you $19 and if you are looking to add a HDMI adapter then that will cost you $24.

Many people are thinking by now that why we need a small computer when we can do everything on our laptop/desktop. Well the thing is that this computer can be used at several places. The company has some solid manufacturing as they are a Haxlr8r company.
