The Sony LED Light Bulb Speaker launches in Japan on May 23.

Day and night. Air and water. Sound and light. Sony is combining the elements of sound and light in a new product. The Japanese consumer electronics company has a new LED Light Bulb Speaker, an LED light that doubles as a speaker over Bluetooth. Strange isn’t it?

But Sony is positive that its 2-in-1 product will appease lovers of music and lights, as shown in the video below. Sony’s LED Light Bulb Speaker features a 360-lumen bulb and a simple design that hides its ingenious capabilities. Sony also has a dedicated mobile application, which allows users to control the brightness of the bulb or the volume of its speakers.

The Sony’s LED Light Bulb Speaker will not satisfy audiophiles—people who are crazy about high-fidelity sound. However, it is a nifty gadget, designed to entertain and illumine rooms and dark places. So, when the conversations get boring, simply play your favorite music on the bulb. The Sony LED Light Bulb Speaker launches in Japan on May 23 for ¥23,880—that’s roughly $200.
