Apple Watch OS 1.0.1 Fixes Stand Nofitications

Don't Miss: This How to find Fingerlings in Stock

Tim Cook said that the Apple Watch will save us from the new cancer that is sitting down. It is embarrassing for Apple that this feature did not work probably when the Apple Watch shipped. The first Apple Watch OS update fixes it, kind of.

Tim Cook said before the Apple Watch launched that sitting is the new cancer. The Apple Watch is saving us from it. To Apple's embarrassment one of the features that did not work well was Stand Activity when the Apple Watch shipped. I was getting Stand notification just when I just had been standing a couple minutes and was sitting down again. It became annoying to get these wrong notifications several time a day.

Yesterday Apple released the first Apple Watch Update with Apple Watch OS 1.0.1 and one of the features that got improved is Stand Activity. The wrong Stand notifications seem to have disappeared since I have updated my Apple Watch to OS 1.0.1.

The Stand Activity is though still not working for everyone. Some people who use stand desks complained in forums that they get stand notifications. The Apple Watch is confusing sitting with no movement. The Apple Watch does not really know if you sit or stand. There is no altimeter in the Apple Watch. It uses the gyroscope sensor to find out if you move or sit.

What I found out with the Apple Watch Stand Activity is that I easily reach the goal of standing 12 hours a day when I am home with my kids on the weekend. During the week in the office working I have no chance on getting to 12 hours standing. Kids keep you young they say, they can drive you mad too.

This is how to install Apple Watch OS updates.
