It is Memorial Day and many celebrities are sending out Happy Memorial Day wishes through social media. Here are some of the most inspiring and one controversial.

Memorial Day is a federal holiday and is observed at the last Monday in May. This year Memorial Day falls on May 25, the earliest date possible. Memorial Day can be as late as May 30. Today the American Flag is raised and lowered to half-staff position to honor the fallen man and women. More than one million lost their life in service for the country.

While there is a sad and somber background for Memorial Day, people also try to be cheerful and wish each other a Happy Memorial Day to look forward.

Many celebrities took to Twitter today to either send out inspiring messages to remember and honor the women and men that made the ultimate sacrifice to the Nation and wish everyone a happy Memorial Day.

Cheryl Burke posted a tasteful Tweet thanking the men and women who served.

Mandy Moore posted a great picture of the American Flag.

Eva Longoria posted: "Home of the Free because of the Brave."

Jessica Alba shared that her uncle Robert Oswald Jones served in Vietnam.

Rapper Pitbull thanks the country's heroes.

Linkin Park sent out a video message to honor vets.

Infamous Billionaire Donald Trump has sent out a controversial Memorial Day 2015 wish on Twitter. He wrote: "I would like to wish everyone, including all haters and losers (of which, sadly, there are many) a truly happy and enjoyable Memorial Day!" Looks like he had a bad day.
