Screentendo is a desktop application that turns the screen or parts of it into a Super Mario Bros. level. The effect of transforming the screen into a Mario level is neat and exactly the stuff a geek mind loves.

In the video below the Google Logo transforms into a playable Super Mario Bros. level.

Aaron Randall developed Screentendo with Cocoa and a Sprite Kit. He released the source code on his blog. He says that he never used Cocoa before so the code is very hacky. A very detailed explanation of how the Screentendo works is also featured on the blog.
