The Rock tops the weekend box office with the unrealistic San Andreas action flick.

San Andreas has earned $53.2 million at the domestic box office taking the top of the list. Pitch Perfect 2 is with $14.8 million far behind on #2 and Tomorrowland earned $13.8 million. The over the top unrealistic earth quake movie is Dwayne Johnson biggest opener ever as a lead actor.

San Andreas did not get a warm welcome by critics, but movie goers apparently love it, beating industry predictions of $40 million by a big margin. On of the reasons San Andreas works is because of Dwayne Johnson. He is bigger than ever. The Rock is an extremely likable muscle packed guy. He is probably the most sympathetic wrestler the world has ever seen. In the Facebook video below Dwayne The Rock Johnson celebrates the box office win the only way he knows how.

The San Andreas disaster movie is painting a scenario when the San Andreas fault triggers a magnitude 9 earthquake. A search-and-rescue helicopter pilot (Dwayne Johnson) must navigate the destruction from Los Angeles to San Francisco to save his daughter. While the movie is completely unrealistic there is a new science report describing the real danger of a tsunami for San Diego and Los Angeles.
