Apple Sold 2.79 Million Apple Watches To Date

A new report from Slice Intelligence says that Apple has sold 2.79 million Apple Watch has of mid-June. The report also says that customers spend on a spare band.

Apple has not yet said anything specific about the Apple Watch sales numbers. They had plenty of opportunity to do so, but kept quite. Now a new report from Slice Intelligence tries to pin point the Apple Watch sales to date.

Slice Intelligence data mines email receipts from a panel of 2 million consumers. Slice estimates that Apple sold 2.79 million Apple Watches as of mid-June. Interestingly 17% of Apple Watch buyers also bought a second band. Apple makes a keen profit on the bands. IHS estimates that a sport band costs $2 to make and Apple sells it for $50.

The black sport band is the most popular for both the band that comes with device and extra band ordered by consumers.

Th $149 Milanese loop is the second-most popular second band, suggesting many consumers try to make the Apple Watch Sport look more luxurious for festivities or business.

The new Slice Intelligence Apple Watch sales numbers have been exclusive reported by Reuters.

The Apple Watch is now available for in-store reservation if the model consumers want is in stock. Apple is updating stock information at 8am local time. The availability of in store stock is a sign that Apple is close to finally catch up with demand for the Apple Watch.
