Jurrassic World to Take July 4th Weekend Box Office

New releases Terminator Genisys and Magic Mike XXL had no chance against Jurassic World and Inside Out in weekend box office.

While Jurassic World and Inside Out are still too close to call as final numbers of the weekend box office are not in yet, the big losers are Terminator Genisys and Magic Mike XXL. Jurassic World earned according to estimates $30.94 million and Disney's Inside Out is close second with $30.1 million in domestic ticket sales. The Terminator is back only on third sport with $28.7 million.

Magic Mike XXL is distant 4th with $12 million. It is already the 4th weekend for Jurassic World and the movie is still going strong. It has now earned over $550 million domestic. Arnold Schwarzenegger should have been able to beat Jurassic World this weekend, but he did not. The dinosaurs are just so much more popular with kids and Terminator's are just not as cool.

Inside Out surprises and is already one of Pixar's most successful movies ever. It just shows that kids are the major force behind people going to the movies. I see this on myself. I am going to movie theaters mostly because of my kids. I feed my movie watching needs through Netflix and iTunes at home.

Jurassic World time warps 22 years into the future of Jurassic Park. Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. After 10 years of operation and visitor rates declining, in order to fulfill a corporate mandate, a new attraction is created to re-spark visitor's interest, which backfires horribly. This is when the fun starts. Watch the trailer below.

Numbers according to Rentrak.
