The Game of Thrones panel at the Comic Con 2015

The Hall H at the San Diego Comic Con was full of The Game of Thrones fans as they waited for the arrival of their favorite show’s characters. The excitement was running high among the fans as they were anxious to find out about the upcoming season of The Game of Thrones.

Finally when the cast came the fans were rejoiced. The cast included Brienne, Gilly, Margarery, Sansa, Arya, Reek, Melisandre, Varys, Sam and Davos. However some of the major stars were still missing but even then The Game of Thrones team delivered a quite entertaining panel at the Comic Con on Friday. Even though moderator Seth Meyers posed some very good questions to the cast it were the fans that had the toughest questions, according to Hitfix.

Many of the fans pressed the panel on the show’s season 5 scenes that depicted a lot of violence against the female characters. First of all Sophie Turner was asked about Sansa Stark’s wedding night rape and the fan wanted to know that why had the camera stayed on the reaction of Theon. The fan even had the view that the scene actually diminished the strength of her character. After this two fans asked whether the upcoming season 6 of the show will show the same violence against women or not, according to EW.

However the fans have been quite curious to know the fate of Jon Snow who was killed in season 5 but it seems that they will remain curious till the next season. This is because the large cast of The Game of Thrones at the Comic Con when asked questions about Jon Snow dodged those questions. Well as the show runners David Benioff, D.B. Weiss and the author George R.R. Martin were not present at the Comic Con the fans could not even be given the slightest information about what they would be expecting in Season 6 of the HBO show.

The producer of the show, Carolyn Strauss stated that they have always maintained a level of surprise for the fans who watch the show and it seemed that they were not in any mood to abandon this tradition even for the large number of fans who had gathered in Hall H. the audience was also quite eager to find out about the treatment of the show’s female characters which included rape, death by burning and the famous naked walk of shame.

When asked about the burning of Princess Shireen Strauss stated that just because it’s painful doesn’t mean it is not a good point in the story. She stated that the scene was added in spite of the pain and added that things in this season weren’t so great for many males and females alike.

Director David Nutter on the other hand stated that the day was a particularly difficult one. He stated that everyone had to understand and feel what was going to happen to this young girl. Moreover as actress Lena Headey wasn’t present at the Comic Con fans couldn’t know much about her characters nude shame of walk, according to ABCNews.

Well the question and answer was certainly amusing for the fans as they found out what they wanted to at least some of it but the most fun part of the panel was when an audition reel was shown to the fans featuring many of the actors.

In the audition clip the fans were shown Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell), Liam Cunningham (Ser Davos) and Gwendoline Christie (Brienne) among many of the others all of whom were trying out their lines which they would eventually say on camera. However the funniest audition was of Rose Leslie which was just at the end and it obviously included her famous line “You know nothing Jon Snow”.

Apart from this Sophie Turner talked about her controversial scenes as Sansa Stark. She stated that Sansa could have fought back but she chose not to because Sansa is someone who does all the planning and scheming in her mind rather than openly, according to Independent.

Interesting news for everyone at the Comic Con was when the Game of Thrones director David Nutter told that fans that even the President of the United States Barack Obama is a Game of Thrones fan. He explained that he met the president three weeks ago and the president came up to him and asked “You didn’t kill Jon Snow, did you?” To this the director had replied that Jon Snow is pretty much dead.

So this response by David Nutter basically sums up everyone’s question about the future of Jon Snow. However the fans kept pressing and asked the cast about Jon snow’s future but even they had nothing to tell. Van Houten explained to the fans that he was as much in the dark as they were. He stated that the future is full of terrors and none of them knows what the show runners have for the future, according to The Daily Beast.

Moreover many of the actors spoke about the future of their characters and how they might end up in the next season of The Game of Thrones. Even though all of the actors maintained that they know nothing they did make some predictions for the fans present in Hall H at the Comic Con. Maisie William who plays Arya Stark talked about how she will play her character next season because now she is blind. She explained that it is quite difficult now for her.

On the other hand Natalie Dormer was also worried about her character’s fate, Margaery who was last seen wallowing in a prison. She stated that she thinks Margaery is in a lot of trouble and Grandma Tyrell is no longer around to take of her anymore. Just like these two many of the other characters too ended up in equally difficult situations including Davos. Davos has just found out that all the Baratheons, whom he serves, are dead, according to Time.
