Walmart Fights Amazon Prime Day with Sale

Walmart engages Amazon in sales fight on July 15. Walmart will have also big sale on Amazon Prime Day. They already started the fight with "Dare to Compare Top products. Lower prices."

Walmart launched a campaign on titled "Dare to Compare Top products. Lower prices." The retailer is targeting with this campaign directly Amazon offering shoppers deals lower than Amazon's prices. This though just the lead in to a big Walmart sale that will directly compete with the Amazon Prime Day sale on July 15.

Amazon promises more deals than on Black Friday on Amazon Prime Day. The only condition to take advantage of the deals is an Amazon Prime membership. Amazon is offering a free 30-day Amazon Prime trial, making this requirement not a big barrier. Walmart is calling Amazon out on this and Walmart CEO Fernando Madeira says in a blog post: "You shouldn't have to pay $100 to get great deals," Ouch!

Walmart will offer thousands of deals on Rollback beginning this week along with some special atomic deals (more on that in the days to come). In addition, Walmart is rolling back their free shipping minimum order to $35 from $50. Now the Amazon Prime Day sale has just got much more interesting. I said last week in a report that we don't expect deals better than on Black Friday as there is no competition. Amazon's Black Friday strategy has been so far to match the hottest doorbuster deals.

Now that Walmart gets in on the action, both retailers will likely offer a several Black Friday doorbuster-like deals and match them. July 15 might now a day to find deals as hot as on Black Friday.

We will be analyzing the Amazon Prime Day deals and the Walmart deals as soon as they appear and publish a deal guide as we do each year during the Black Friday sales season.

The Prime Day deals are across dozens of categories including electronics, toys, movies, clothing, patio, lawn and garden, sports and outdoor items and more. Prime members will find deals on items for summer, family road trips, back to school supplies, and everyday essentials.

Prime Day is a global shopping event taking place in the U.S., U.K., Spain, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, Canada and Austria.
