Logi BLOK Protective Cases for the iPad Unveiled

Logitech, now called Logi, is introducing a new family of cases for the iPad. They aren’t ordinary cases though, as they are designed to endure accidental drops.

When Logitech rebranded itself to Logi last week, the popular maker of computer accessories painted a more colorful and bolder image, promising a few surprises along the way. Today, we’re seeing Logi’s first of many accessories that are designed for Apple’s iPad tablets.

Logi’s BLOK family of cases for the iPad are visually stunning and carefully thought. There are three cases all in all: the Logi BLOK Protective Shell, the Logi BLOK Protective Case and the Logi BLOK Protective Keyboard Case. These cases, Logi says, are designed for everyday use. But it ups the ante by making the cases resistant to drops.

The secret lies in the way that these cases are designed. Logi hired its first chief design officer to develop a new breed of cases that can absorb any impact from drops of up to six feet. Specially, the cases feature a square design, which reportedly helps in absorbing impact. They are also made from absorbent polymer which flexes with the iPad.

The Logi BLOK Protective Shell is the cheapest of the three, available for only $39.99. It’s basically a shell for the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini tablets. The shell also comes with a screen protector to protect your iPad from scratches. It retails for $69.99.

On the other hand, the Logi BLOK Protective Keyboard Case has all the features of the Shell while adding a nifty stand that offers a comfortable viewing angle. The priciest of the three is the Logi BLOK Protective Keyboard Case. As its name suggests, this case doubles as a keyboard, thanks to its detachable keyboard that also acts as a screen cover. You can get this innovative case for $129.99.

Logi expects to launch the three cases in the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, and select countries in Europe next month. In a press release, Michele Hermann, Logi’s Vice President of Mobility, said that people don’t use their iPads to their full potential because they are afraid to drop or damage their tablets.

“Our designers worked with material experts to protect the most sensitive parts of the iPad without adding the bulk you associate with ultra-protective cases. With the Logi BLOK family of cases you no longer have to choose between protecting your iPad and having a beautiful case that allows you to enjoy all the functionality it has to offer,” he said.
