Apple releases new iPod Touch Today

Apple is reportedly releasing new iPod touch today, July 15.

Rumors of updated iPod touch and a new iPod shuffle surfaced after hints have been discovered in the iTunes 12.2 release. 9to5Mac just reported that according to a source Apple is rolling out the new iPod touch today along with a new shuffle.

There will be no new features in the refreshed iPod touch and iPod shuffle, but performance improvements. The camera in the new 2015 iPod touch will be upgraded from 5MP to 8MP catching up with the iPhone 6.

A new 64-bit CPU will make iOS run smoother. Also new is the M chip for fitness tracking.

According to the report there will be a new 128GB iPod touch selling for $399. There will be a new gold color and also the shuffle will be offered in additional colors.

The Apple Store is not down yet for updating, which somehow makes this report not line-up yet with the reality. In a couple of hours the window closes for a new iPod touch and shuffle to be released today.

The current iPods have been released in 2012. The new 2015 refresh is expected to also be lasting for the next couple of years. The iPod line has become a niche product for Apple that not even deserves a media event for launch.
