Microsoft Corporation launches Unified App Store

Ahead of the Windows 10 release end of the month, Microsoft has launched the unified app store online.

The key feature of Windows 10 is a seamless und unified experience across all devices. Ahead of the Windows 10 launch on July 29, the Microsoft Corporation has launched the new Windows app store for all devices.

The new app store combines the apps previously offered in the Windows Desktop app store and Windows Phone app store. The clean interface of the new app store has categories for all devices including the Xbox and Surface. Not everything seems finished as the Xbox section is linking out to the Microsoft Store site.

Windows 10 is going to be an important milestone for Microsoft. The operating system could be key to get the disastrous smartphone business on a growth track. Microsoft announced a major lay-off and write down in the smartphone hardware business unit a week ago.

If Microsoft can convince Windows fans that its better to use a Windows phone than an iPhone they have won. Right now a Windows phone does not offer enough of a benefit to Windows users. Windows 10 features like continuum could make a difference.

The top free Windows app os Facebook followed by Netflix and Skype. The top paid Windows app is Drawboard PDF followed by MyRadar Weather Radar and KVADPhoto + Pro.

The new Windows App store is available here. Via Windows Central.

The final Windows 10 RTM build is reportedly available now. Build 10240 is supposed the final build Microsoft will release to manufacturing.
