Marvel's Ant-Man had a big enough launch weekend to take the no. 1 spot in the weekend box office ranking, but it is far behind other Marvel movies.

Marvel got used to big weekends at the box office with their countless super hero movies. Ant-Man launched on the weekend with an estimated $58 million in domestic ticket sales taking the box office top spot. This is about a quarter of what Avengers: Age of Ultron made.

Ant-Man is not only the smallest super hero, he is also small compared to box office sales of other Marvel movies. He is though big enough to beat other movies. Ant-Man kept Minions at bay. The yellow guys raked in $50 million in estimated domestic ticket sales.

The third spot in the weekend box office goes to Trainwreck with $30 million. This is a big success for Amy Schumer, Bill Hader and director Judd Apatow.

In Ant-Man a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength makes con-man Scott Lang a hero. He needs to help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
