IKEA Offers Free Repair Kit for Chests and Dressers After Two Children Died
  • IKEA is On the Mend After its Products Cause the Death of Two Children

The globally recognized brand known as IKEA is on the mend after its products caused the death of two children. The chests and dressers by the giant underwent a little tipping over and this resulted in the kids’ deaths.

The chests and drawers by IKEA for both children and adults had a drawback. They tipped over when disturbed. This proved tragic indeed when two children died in the resultant accident. The solution given by the experts at IKEA is to repair the furniture items.

The repair program features a toll free number you can call anytime. A bunch of hardware guys will appear at your doorstep and install a free wall anchoring kit. This is specifically for MALM 3- and 4-drawer chests and two styles of MALM 6-drawer chests.

The fundamental problem was that these furniture items could tip-over anytime leading to a health hazard for the consumers within the confines of their own homes. A secure bond of the dressers and drawers with the adjacent walls is very necessary if things are to go well in the future.

News of the death of two children after the IKEA furniture items went unhinged and fell on them reached the company headquarters. After that every step was taken to ensure that the tragedy would never repeat itself in the future.

The immediate guidelines that have been issued state that any chests and dressers taller than the standard 23 ½ inches for children or 29 ½ inches for adults ought to be dismantled and never used again.

The only proviso is that if they are securely set in their position with the wall, then their presence is not a health hazard. The repair program is being implemented on a national level. In February and June of the previous year, a 2 year old boy and a 23 month old child died as a result of IKEA chests and drawers tipping over.

There have been many other reports of accidents and injuries due to IKEA furniture. The problem needs to be looked into on a serious basis. The proper inspection of the furniture items is a must.

Meanwhile, a novel catalog has been printed by IKEA and it is for the upcoming year. This new 2016 catalog features kitchen furniture and various activities surrounding life in the kitchen for housewives and the entire family.

IKEA systems that help in growing, cooking, serving and storing are mentioned in detail in the exciting catalog. It is hoped that the future items will not prove to be health hazards like the chests and drawers that resulted in two deaths.

“We know that for many people, simply being together to talk and share around the table is just as important as the food itself,” said Leontyne Green Sykes, Marketing Manager IKEA U.S. “This year, we’re showcasing how food connects people, and what makes life in and around the kitchen work in harmony.”

U.S. consumers can access the new catalog in multiple ways. They can request a printed copy of the catalog at www.getmy2016catalog.com and can also download the free IKEA Catalog App for smartphones and tablets (iOS and Android) that includes a new “Walk in the Room” feature; an augmented reality “Place in Your Room” feature; 360° views and additional videos and image galleries.
